      LARGE REFLUX STILL

     

     
    Charlie has done it, he has taken the Moonshine out of Moonshine Distilling. Moonshining was and is done to try to keep revenues from governments. It was done during the early years of the development of the USA and Canada as well as most countries of the world. It was done on a large scale then making it worth the investment of the governments to try to shut them down. Home Distillation is not the same. Do we not, in the privacy of our own home, for our own use, and not for re-sale, have the freedom to own a device that will do many things?
     
He is proud of his Purification Systems. You are entirely within the law to have one of these units in your home to purify water. It gives you clean distilled water. There are many other uses for this device. May I suggest a few. You may have some bad wine that needs purification. You might have a mixture of water, sugar and yeast that needs refinement. You may have some water with potatoes, sugar or some grains in a mixture of yeast that needs purification. Shouldn't you have the right to distill vinegar. To distill your own brand of perfumes is a great challenge for the hobbyist. The possibilities are endless. But of course its main use is when you are in your backwoods cabin and you need to have pure drinking water. This unit is invaluable. Charlie's purification system can be set up in the privacy of your own home or apartment. What a great hobby. The perfect appliance to compliment home brewing or wine making.

All units consist of the same three parts. The bottom receptacle or boiler is made of high grade stainless steel, while the upper tower is of copper and the condenser is of a high grade sanitary plastic. The larger  is a little over 4'0" in height and its 32 quart pot is ample for personal use The price of this unit is $550.00Cdn.or US.

 

LARGE POT STILL

 

The difference between a reflux still is in the cracking tower. The reflux still is twice as long and has two 1/2" pipes going across the cracking tower containing the cold water going to the condenser. What happens when the alcohol, which is in a vapor form, hits the cold water  it will turn some of the alcohol back into a liquid and it will drop back into the boiler to be reheated and will rise again. The vapor that got through will be of a higher percentage and a more pure form of alcohol. You are able to produce sometimes close to 100% or 200 proof alcohol. Those people who want to produce this quality should buy or build this kind of unit. The pot still also does a very good job and is much like the old moonshiners built only this is a smaller version. It will produce up to about 70% alcohol or 140 proof. Keep in mind that a normal bottle of liquor is only about 40% or 80 proof. In fact you need to do a lot more filtering when the alcohol you pass through the carbon tower when you go over 60% or 120 proof alcohol. The price is $490.00 Cdn or US.

The MEDIUM UNIT is 20 quarts, and a little over one-half the capacity of the larger unit. It came about when one of Charlie's  customers had a travel home and the larger unit just didn't fit his needs. This unit fit the bill perfectly. It also was perfect for the person who had a small apartment or those with limited needs or funds. The boiler  is 20 quarts and is a little over 2'0" in height. The price is $410.00 Cdn. or US.
