LAGOON CITY YOGA CLUB
The Lagoon City Yoga Club meets every Monday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in the Community Centre, from the first Monday after Labour Day until the long weekend in May. We are very fortunate to have Heather, a Certified Yoga Instructor, teach our class.
Heathers qualifications include: Bachelor of Science, Kinesiology; Masters of Applied Science, Nutrition; Certified Fitness Consultant; Registered Nutritional Consultant; Medical Exercise Therapy Diploma; Pro-Elite Athlete and Certified Yoga Teacher. As well, Heather has experience in physiotherapy programs and accommodating clients on a wide range of muscular/skeletal conditions.
Yoga helps to develop greater strength and flexibility, improve circulation and respiration, improve balance and co-ordination, gain relaxation and peace of mind, and rejuvenate your body. Each session includes various stretches, postures, breath-work, and relaxation techniques used to bring about a state of physical relaxation and mental concentration. Postures are modified to suit the individual, ranging from comforting the beginning student to challenging the advanced student.
You must be a member of L.C.C.A. to join, and the cost is $60.00 per six week session, payable on the first day. If you are going to be away and will miss half (or more) of the session, you may pay $12.00 per class and attend three classes. Some floor mats are available but it is recommended that you bring along a beach towel or small blanket, and perhaps a small cushion. No need to wear all that fashionable yoga gear any loose, comfortable clothing that will enable you to stretch is fine. New members are always welcome, anytime throughout the year.
